Taking a leap of faith
The Scariest Thing You’ll Ever Do (But Totally Worth It)
I think the scariest thing to do is listen to that inner voice. You know, the one that's nudging you to leave that job, start that business, or stop following the path your family swears is "right" for you. Even if you want to make them proud, here's the truth: you’re never really going to please everyone.
I've learned through my own leaps of faith that fear doesn’t mean "don’t do it." In fact, it usually means you should. It was terrifying to step out on my own, and yep, there was plenty of backlash from people I thought would support me. But guess what? You’ll never know the magic of doing what you love until you TRY—even if your family doesn’t get it.
When I started my training business, no one believed in me. Everyone told me, "Get a job first, then maybe start a side hustle." But my heart knew better. I felt this pull to go all in, no backup plan, just faith. Life was falling apart around me, and it felt like God was pushing me out of my comfort zone. So I listened. I quit my job with zero idea how the bills would get paid.
But you know what? The bills DID get paid. By the grace of God, everything worked out. I look back now, still shocked, like… wow, God really carried me through that. Sure, the backlash was real (btw), but six months after I quit, I moved to the side of town I'd been dreaming about. I was making more money than ever—which, for me, was huge because I’d only known minimum wage jobs.
This was 2019. I was making $18/hr, living alone, paying my car note, rent, all of it. Back when things were actually affordable. (IDK how people are surviving now, TBH.) I even doubled my rent and STILL managed to afford it. Got a new car, too. The payment was $150 more than my old one—which felt like a HUGE jump. But I picked up more clients to cover it.
Fast forward 6 years: I built a successful in-person training business with just my knowledge and grit. Shoutout to my Exercise Science degree because that helped a LOT. My passion? Helping people heal their minds and bodies through fitness. And I DID it.
So, what’s the point? Take. The. Leap. Of. Faith.
If you feel that nudge to chase a dream you can’t shake, DO IT. You don’t know how it’ll turn out until you try. Even if your family, friends, or "that one friend Jane" throws shade. This is YOUR life. Not Jane’s. Not your parents'. Yours.
Because let’s be real: you could follow someone else’s advice, end up miserable, and they’re not even around anymore. (Where’s Jane now? Exactly.)
From someone who’s taken the leap: it's worth it. Just do it.
BTW, I'm on another leap-of-faith journey right now, doing something totally new but close to my heart. Stick around. You might just get inspired to leap, too.
Love,
